RED RIVER HERITAGE FAIR Congratulations to the Grade 6 students who represented our school so well at the Red River Heritage Fair at the University of Winnipeg on May 1st. The students had a wonderful time observing the hundreds of amazing projects by grade 4 to 11 students from across Manitob,a participating in several hands-on workshops, interacting with the judges and answering their questions, and meeting students from across the province.Each year the grade 6 students participate in various fun and educational workshops. This year's workshops included: soap stone carving; making aboriginal leather necklaces called spirit pouches; an amazing scavenger hunt; and an interesting talk on The Untold Stories of Winnipeg. As well there was aboriginal drumming during the lunch hour and an Open House and Awards Ceremony in the evening. It was an action-packed day, one that will remain fondly in our memories! All of our students received medals for their wonderful projects.In addition, some of our students were fortunate to receive SPECIALTY AWARDS, as follows: CANADA'S HISTORY AWARD (Awarded to the Top 3 Projects in the entire fair!)

Party Stuff & U-Rent-It can trace its history back to the 1950's when a small party rental store was opened on Corydon Avenue in Winnipeg. It changed hands and locations a few times over the years and in 1982 it was purchased by the Glass family of Winnipeg.At that point, the rental service company occupied 2,200 square feet in a small strip mall on St. James Street, near the old Winnipeg Stadium. They learned a lot about soccer and mostly, they had plenty of fun. Big thanks to the coaches!Bourkevale's mini soccer season wrapped up June 26 after another another fun and exciting year. Bourkevale hosted several teams in 2014 and there was plenty of activity on the club's well-groomed soccer fields weekday evenings. Our volunteer ground crew did an exceptional job again maintaining the fields, including grass cutting, weed control and line painting. Without them, and our volunteer coaches and soccer convenor, Bourkevale would not have a soccer program. So remember parents, without your participation, there is no soccer!
