Chemainus Tours was established in 1996 by Jim Bangle, who had recently moved to Vancouver Island after a lengthy career in the Transportation Industry in Jasper Alberta. The business has grown over the years. Chemainus Tours now offers not only the original quality tours of Vancouver Island, but also is the local supplier of Chemainus Mural Tours, by either horse drawn trolley or steam train, bus rentals, and wedding carriage services. Where we Travel: Most of our sightseeing tours originate in Victoria, travel over the spectacular Malahat Pass, with stops at Goldstream Provincial Park and the Split Rock Viewpoint. We enjoy leisurely drives through the scenic and mostly rural countryside of the Cowichan Valley, taking in the attractions of your choice. Our Mural Tours in Chemainus originate at WaterWheel Park, and travel through the town, while the onboard guide explains the history of each mural and other interesting facts. How we Travel: We travel in well appointed, air conditioned vans and highway coaches, depending on group size. All of our vehicles are licensed by the British Columbia Motor Carrier Commission and as such are subject to regular safety inspections. Your safety and comfort is our Number One concern. Mural Tours are conducted aboard horse drawn trolleys or carriages, or the famous Chemainus Steam Train. Booking: Advance booking of at least 24 hours is required for all of our Sightseeing tours. Note that most of these packages have a minimum requirement of four. Group bookings of 10 and over for the Chemainus Mural Tours also requires 24 hour advance notice. A 50% deposit is required upon booking, with the balance due upon completion of the tour. Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made 30 days prior to departure date you will receive a full refund. Within a period of 8 to 29 days prior to departure date 50% of the required deposit will be refunded. There will be NO refund if the tour is canceled within 7 days of the departure date. Canceled Trips: If Chemainus Tours is required to cancel a tour because of unforeseen circumstances or low enrollment numbers, 7 days notice of such cancellation will be given and a full refund issued. We will endeavor to fill your vacation need with an alternate tour.
After several nights and several Pisco Sours we came up with the name for Vancouver's newest Peruvian inspired eatery: Chicha Restaurant. We chose it mostly because it sounds fun and feminine. But Chicha Morado also happens to be a very popular drink in Peru, made from purple corn, spices, pineapple, and citrus. At our restaurant the chicha morado along with everything else on our menu is made from scratch and fresh by us with love. Our vision for Chicha restaurant is a fun, casual restaurant that offers modern, creative small share plates and innovative cocktails inspired by Peruvian ingredients and flavors. A place where friends, lovers, and family can come have an upbeat time, share dishes and experience our bold favored, colorful, modern interpretation of Peruvian food.

During a six month federal energy conservation project, City Farmer was created. Read about the group's formative months in a report written by the project's leader. 'The first issue of City Farmer came out at the end of July (1978) and the second at the end of August. Both received a very positive response. The paper attempts to interest the public by showing them examples of successful Vancouver city farmers. It also reports on political issues that affect the city farmers (there has been a great deal of controversy lately about a particular woman in Vancouver who raises chickens in defiance of city by-laws), and products and information that are of use to them.
