The Manitoba First Nations , through Sub-agreement Holders and Local boards, mandated by their Chiefs and Council members established First Peoples Development Inc. (FDPI) with a new Board of Directors effective April 1, 2006.The FPDI is comprised of thirty-four First Nations Sub-agreement Holders as designated by their Local Boards, with the mandate to address the employment and training interests of First Nations people. The articles of incorporation support the principle of grassroots or local decision-making while promoting, advocating and addressing the needs of First Nations through their Local boards.FDPI is established in accordance with the Human Resource and Social Development Canada - Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy ( ASETS ) and focuses upon its three priorities:ASETS , administered though the FDPI, is designed to help Aboriginal people prepare for and find high demand jobs quickly, as well as keep them in the long term. All Aboriginal people may access - through their local band offices and sub agreement holders - programs and services that include:The ASETS is the federal government's successor strategy to the AHRDS and is designed to help improve the employment opportunities of Aboriginal peoples and enable them to fully participate in the Canadian economy in a relationship based on mutual trust, respect and openness.

The Community Futures Manitoba Board of Directors is comprised of one representative from each of these organizations. Community Futures operates across rural and Northern Canada as a grassroots-driven program created to strengthen rural economies by enabling entrepreneurship and assisting in community economic development.There are 16 Community Futures organizations (CFs) established throughout rural and northern Manitoba. The goal of each CF is to assist the communities in their region to develop their economic potential. Southeast Resource Development Council Corp. is located at 360 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba in the Shawano Wapunong Building. Southeast Resource Development Council Corp. (SERDC)was incorporated and recognized in 1978. It is formal unification of eight (8) member First Nations in the southeastern portion of Manitoba. The Tribal Council is accountable to approximately 12,000 members under the leadership of its eight First Nation Councils. As a political and administrative organization, SERDC is designed and mandated to facilitate the development of local control and responsibility of programs and services to member First Nations by: Providing a mechanism whereby SERDC can develop the administrative and managerial skills necessary to assist each First Nation institute and deliver local services at its own pace and in tune with each First Nation's level of development. Providing a mechanism whereby SERDC can ensure that services are equitably and effectively delivered to each First Nation.
