“Starting my culinary career in Niagara-on-the-lake, I was given the opportunity to really see what food and the hospitality industry was all about. It sparked something in me and I was instantly addicted to the speed and fast paced environment. Working with real ingredients for the first time was an experience that propelled me into wanting more. I could go on and on about the experiences I had in Australia, New York, Toronto and Vancouver and about all the things I did but like me, I want to keep this simple. I have always loved food and have always craved the pace of a fast and hard service. Wine, Beer and Spirits will always have a special place in my heart which I am sure others will agree with me. The friendships I have made have and will be everlasting, and my philosophy with food revolves around the fact that food and family are the only things that globally we can all relate too. I am a loving husband, father and co-worker, and have built a restaurant that showcases that.
The food at this Financial District lunch spot stays pretty close to home, celebrating the bounty of southern Ontario with dishes like ricotta gnocchi with forest mushrooms, farmhouse pork sausage and the signature Hawthorne burger. Everyone raves about the French fries, and you do yourself no favours by passing up the flourless chocolate cake. Hawthorne is partnered with the Hospitality Workers Training Centre, meaning the staff here is happy and well supported from on high.

(Harlem on Queen) After a weekend of dining at pretentious good-for-nothing restaurants (re: Spice Route) we decided to settle for Harlem, my bf's idea as the location of this place is easy to miss with so many other eateries surrounding it. We had the brunch/lunch menu. The waitresses were very attentive. Served right away. Food was quite tasty, although the only negative part about it was that it came out a lukewarm. The catfish lafyette was delicious! Yam and yukon hash was good, but would've been better if served hot, as potatoes tend to get rubbery when it gets cold. The ribs were not bad either. There was a lot of food on the menu that I wanted to try today, so I'll definitely go back , maybe during dinner the next time. Read more
