DAKOTA LENSPRO came into being in 2009 as a result of the joining of two independent ophthalmic labs: Dakota Optical and Lenspro Ltd.Dakota Optical was founded in 1982 by Gil Harper. One of his early employees was Perry Shergold. Perry continues on as our manager of lab operations at DAKOTA LENSPRO.Lenspro Ltd. Was founded in 1992 by Dr. Dale Mulhall, a local optometrist.Both labs were full service labs, supplying premium ophthalmic lenses from local suppliers, such as Rodenstock and Nikon.Our staff has been in the industry for years and brings a unique history of experience and excellence. Photo Central has been serving Winnipeg's photographers since 1975, when Dick Toews took over management of what was then Independent Photo Centre. In 1991 the name was changed to Photo Central Inc when Dick took over full ownership. Photo Central continued to grow and adapt over the years, and has seen the introduction and explosion of digital products and the rapid change it has made in the industry in the last decade. Photo Central was purchased by Dick's son, Andrew, in the spring of 2008. Andrew has since made the necessary changes to ensure that Photo Central is equipped to function and flourish in a rapidly changing marketplace without sacrificing who we are or what we think a business should be.
