This was the best consignment dealer; we have dealt with dealers for over 50 years and were amazed at Jacobs expertise, thoroughness, honesty, and seamless service. He got us pretty well our asking price in a few days - with his great advertising and detailing work. We also bought a vehicle from him which we are very happy with. We would highly recommend Five Star Auto for any needs; exceptional! Thank you, Morgan and Ron.Read more
Al Cameron Bluenose Motor Co. is a family run dealership operating in Parksville since 2003. Like the famous Bluenose schooner, Al hails from Nova Scotia where his uncle has operated the largest used car dealership in Atlantic Canada for the past 40 years. Al arrived on the West Coast in 1995 where he joined The Jim Pattison Group and began a career in the car business. After seven years consistently achieving top sales and superior customer service ratings with Toyota Canada, Al decided it was time to branch out on his own. One of the best sales Al ever made was to Bea, and the story goes that she loved the Toyota so much she married the salesman. With a background in agricultural science, wildlife studies and habitat mapping, Bea's introduction to the world of retail came when she and Al made a joint decision to open Bluenose Motor Co. Ltd. Bea's concern for the environment continues to be expressed in the Bluenose philosophy of environmentally responsible decision-making. In a relatively short period of time, Al and Bea have established a business that defies the stigma of the typical used car lot. The goal of the Bluenose Motor team is to offer the highest quality in pre-owned vehicles and the utmost in customer service. Bluenose Motor has an established reputation as a good place to do business and a company that values its connections to the community. Al currently serves as a Director on the boards of the Automobile Retailers Association of British Columbia, the Vehicle Sales Authority, and the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce. He is an active Rotarian and has just recently been elected to the position of Public Relations Chair for the Rotary Club of Parksville AM.

The property on the top of Cates Hill was obtained by Wolfgang Duntz, a developer on Bowen Island. With foresight and integrity, he knew that the land was not for private hands, and in the zoning process reserved it for a retreat centre. With a sense of faith, he prepared to gift the land and waited to see how that might come about. Howard and Shirley Bentall, a couple who spent their lives in Christian service, were also waiting and listening for how they might use the financial resources that had come into their hands. The 3 of them met in January of 2001. Around that time, Shirley gave Wolfgang a hand drawn floor plan of a retreat center along with her vision. The builder, Dennis Dallas - worked with the sketch and 18 months later, on June 3, 2002 the doors of Rivendell Retreat were opened. Wolfgang often says that the timing was perfect for the creation of Rivendell in light of the development on Bowen. In addition the cooperative spirit of the workmen who built the lodge can be sensed in the beautiful workmanship of the building. A small group of people came together during the building phase to envision the ongoing life of the retreat. The group was intentionally selected to include a variety of denominational backgrounds and experience. As principles were identified and models of functioning discussed - a vision unfolded of a way of being that would embody hospitality and accessibility. The creation of Rivendell Retreat Centre was truly an experience of being Spirit led. As we look back on the unfolding, we witness the timing, the envisioning process and the building with a sense of awe.
