The small parish church of Saint Matthias, Bellwoods, built in 1873, is on a large property on a side street just north of Queen Street West. When you enter this church you feel as though you have stepped back in time. The many years of faithful worship seem to have seeped into the very fabric of the building, giving a feeling of an inviting and holy place.
In 1951, May 20 St. Nicholas Church was assigned to a parish community to conduct religious services. From 1st December 1952 the St. Nicholas Church was formed into a separate parish, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Bohdan Lipsky, who according to his genius and spiritual knowledge designed iconographic nature of the church. Murals of St. Nicholas Church performed according to the traditions of the Byzantine church art. On the walls of the sanctuary, and hramu porch located - in the sanctuary of Christ Pantocrator, the Virgin - Orans, Resurrection and figure of the Church Fathers on the walls - the crucifixion, descent into hell, the icon of St. Vladimir and Olga, Constantine and Helena, Boris and Gleb Anthony and Teodoziya Caves Cyril and Methodius, and scenes from the life of Christ.

Beginning with the construction of an Anglican parish church in 1893, and evolving to one of Toronto's first providers of senior housing in the 1970s, St. Hilda's has long been a fixture in the Eglinton and Dufferin neighbourhood.
