Living Bible Explorers began in the spring of 1969 as the Simcoe Boys Club. It met in the West End home of 23 year-old George Bock. Four boys attended. George asked God to send someone to share the love of Jesus with kids on his street. The 'someone' prayed for turned out to be George himself.By the fall of that first year, so many boys were coming to the club additional help was needed. Along came George Walker to fill the gap. That same fall, the first girls club was started in an old Safeway building, and the ministry changed its name to Living Bible Explorers.Today, with ten full-time staff, a number of summer workers, and 50 to 100 volunteers, LBE continues to reach children, youth, and families in Winnipeg's inner city with the Good News of Jesus.

Our Mandate * To reach and embrace people from every culture, race, economic and social background * Preach the full counsel and the uncompromised Word of God * Engage in passionate, vibrant worship * Develop and empower leaders * Excel in all forms of artistic expression * Be REAL and RELEVANT in an ever-changing world Our Church 'For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground.' Isaiah 44:3 God's desire is to throw open the Floodgates of heaven and release His fullness on the earth. Gates in the Bible were very significant. They were the centre for spiritual, commercial, social, and political life. It was the place where decisions and judgments were made, where destinies were shaped, and people's lives changed. Our prophetic mandate is to be a gateway that releases the flood of God's abundance on the earth.
Chesed Shel Emes was established in 1930 as a non-profit organization with a mandate to prepare members of the Jewish community for burial according to Orthodox tradition. Each person is treated with the same consideration and respect. No one is refused service due to financial hardship.Chesed Shel Emes is an independent, community based organization. Our Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from each of Winnipeg's synagogues and cemeteries, and interested members from the community at large.Men and women are carefully chosen and trained as volunteer members of the Chevra Kadisha (Holy Society). Their purpose is to dutifully and lovingly prepare the dead for burial, an act of true loving kindness.
