Scout Magazine – launched in late 2008 by local writers/photographers Andrew Morrison and Michelle Sproule – is Vancouver's leading food and culture website. Its main objective has been the same from the start: to 'scout out' and promote the things that make Vancouver such a sweet place to be. It does this with an emphasis on the city's independent spirit to foster a sense of connectedness within and between our communities, and to introduce our readers to the people who grow and cook our food, play the raddest tunes in our better venues, create our most interesting art, and design everything from what we wear to the spaces we inhabit.

We have finally set out with a new location on Main Street after celebrating ten years on Commercial Drive! Our favorites from the Commercial Drive location will be available on the Main Street menu, as well as some additional hand-picked street food items from Mumbai and regional seafood cuisine from Mangalore in South India. We will also be presenting a whole new cocktail selection. Our Main Street location's dining area has been transformed into an airy lounge with natural light, Indian antiques, Indian temple sculptures, reclaimed wood, brass and modern lighting, and comfy seats for the ideal Indian dining experience. The Yard Cafe welcomes you to their dining room. You can also enjoy the sun on their terrace. They are open after-hours all week and are easily reachable by car. The surrounding location is memorable for its parks.
Nested on the boarder of historical Chinatown; Torafuku invites you to experience simple, yet adventurous interpretations of pan Asian flavours. Explore contemporary dishes crafted from local ingredients sourced by local farms complemented by carefully selected wines, local craft beers, and a fashionable cocktail list.
The restaurant is located just shy of chinatown on main in a less traffic area with plenty of access to street parking. We tried their spicy tuna belly roll, fried chicken wings and crispy market fish which was very moist inside We also had their chocolate cake and ovalatine creme brulee which was pretty good and so Asian. All the dishes were creative and tasty. A nice casual atmosphere to share some bites and Asian beers.Read more
At Ana V's our goal is to add more value and beauty to your world than you ever dreamed possible by giving you the secret makeup techniques that will immediately improve your beauty and confidence. After working for big corporations, forced to sell people products they don't want or need, working in show business, always on the go, making up some of Vancouver's finest faces, I decided I can do it better on my own, so I founded my own Beauty Academy. This empowered me to educate everyday woman with the industry beauty secrets, educating them how to keep it simple and basic without getting intimidated. Learning the best techniques without spending thousands of dollars and months, if not years, in one workshop, created by Ana V! You will also learn to love the flaws that have always put you back.
I took the Makeup 101 Class with Ana and had a fantastic time! The class was fun, completely interactive, and Ana answered all of my questions. I learned so many techniques and Ana took time to explain which colours and products would work best for me.
I also bought some of Ana's products as I found them to be great quality and value.
The studio itself was clean and really cute. It would be a great venue for a bachelorette or birthday party.
I can't wait to take another class!Read more
Anatoli Souvlaki was opened by Helen & Thomas in the spring of 1984. They had a dream of combining the food of Greece with great service to add some Mediterranean style to the North Vancouver restaurant selection. They opened in the sleepy neighbourhood of lower Lonsdale and lived above the restaurant to ensure the quality and service. They were able to create a North Vancouver staple, a successful thriving restaurant based on faithful patrons and a reputation that has been passed through generations. Continuing in this tradition, with the key focus on quality and maintaining their parent's vision, Alexi and Iani have successfully taken over the Anatoli's and have brought the restaurant to a whole new level. Anatoli's is able to deliver the time honoured tradition of friends, family and food. Benefiting from years of experience in Canada and Greece, they combine the core value of home cooked meals and have mastered the perfect concoction of taste and style.
Anatoli is our all-time favorite greek food restaurant. We have never been disappointed in the quality of the food whether it is dine-in or a Skip-the-Dishes delivery to our home. The only drawback is the lack of parking in the area, but there is usually a street parking spot within a block, and its well worth the walk. Our favorites are: Spanakopita, Saganaki, Domathes, a Greek Salad; and the incredible fall-off-the-bone Country Lamb!Read more
