bioBUILD – an acronym for Building Urban Industries for Local Development – is a social enterprise non-profit contractor and a training program for people who face barriers to employment.We retrofit homes with insulation and high-efficiency toilets as well as water-and-energy-saving devices (showerheads, CFLs, etc). Since 1994, LITE has supported jobs in Winnipeg's inner city. As a Public Foundation, we raise money from generous Winnipeggers and spend it in ways that promote jobs and long-term development in the community.Why? Take a walk through many of our inner city neighbourhoods and you'll see a mix of situations. Bright and tidy efforts at community renewal and sturdy, long-time businesses exist side by side with some pretty big problems. You'll see empty buildings, vandalism, homelessness and racism to name a few. Tragically, there is a legacy of social decline in the inner city. It's evident to the casual observer as well as in income and employment statistics, which show growing numbers of people living in poverty and depending on social assistance.

In 1991/92 it amalgamated with the Manitoba Electrical Association (MEA) to form the Manitoba Electrical league Inc. In June 2014 the name was changed to Electrical Association of Manitoba with a tag line ''Strength in Connection''. The organizatiobn is rebranding itself and wants to be seen an association that offers stability, strength and professionalism.The Association EAM is a non-profit organization made up of electrical contractors, wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, agents and consultants. The EAM provides a variety of services to its members including group insurance, up-to-date industry information, networking opportunities, representation to Governments, educational and training programs to help member companies and there employees to be current with industry requirements and trends.During the Leagués 2012 'Current Connections' electrical showcase, MEL General Manager Gord Macpherson was interviewed by Electrical Business Magazine to discuss the League and Showcase event.

The North End Community Renewal Corporation (NECRC) was founded in 1998 by a coalition of Winnipeg organizations who were concerned about some of the trends in the north end of Winnipeg and who were aware of the good results that community development corporations in other parts of North American were achieving in revitalizing inner city communities. The NECRC was established to serve the community within the geographic area north of the CP tracks, south of Carruthers Ave., east of McPhillips Street and west of the Red River.The mandate of the corporation is to promote the social, economic and cultural renewal of the north end of Winnipeg. It does this by improving the quality and accessibility of housing, creating jobs, upgrading commercial and industrial areas, implementing employment development programs, improving the overall image of the community, and reducing crime in the community. The corporation provides co-ordination activities and a strategic focus for many of the community improvement activities taking place in the north end.NECRC is committed to the social, economic and cultural renewal of the North End of Winnipeg.NECRC defines its development goals through annual consultations and ongoing networking with North End residents and businesses

Our StoryIn 1995 God brought a number of people, led by David and Anita Ruis, to begin a community of faith in the core area of Winnipeg. WCV was born out of a desire to create an authentic community of followers of Jesus Christ, devoted to worshiping him with their whole lives, and extending God's justice to the poor and those who are weak.For us worshipping God is much more than singing a few songs on a Sunday morning. It is a whole lifestyle that includes offering everything that makes us human to God – our minds, bodies, emotions, spirits, cultures, as well as social and economic dimensions.Our worship of Jesus does not stop there. It demands a practical outpouring of love to those around us... especially to those on the margins of society. Our worship lacks integrity if we are not expressing our love for God through loving our neighbour. Likewise, everything we do is worthless if we are not doing it from a foundation of being loved by God, and loving him back. James, Peter and John had only one requirement for Paul and Barnabas when they were sent out on their first missionary journey... that they 'remember the poor' (Gal 2:10).
