The Rob-Lyn story begins with Barry Adams. Barry first began working in the financial industry in 1966, as an insurance representative sponsored by Great-West Life. In 1976, Barry founded Rob-Lyn Financial (named after his two children) on the principle of protecting and doing what is right for clients. At the time, Rob-Lyn was just a two-person team made up of Barry Adams and Joanne Sands, and focused largely on insurance.

Over the years people have been called mentally handicapped, developmentally disabled, cognitively challenged, intellectually disabled, and many other labels.In order to avoid hurting peoples' feelings and to avoid using labels when we talk about the many different members of People First, we will use the term people who have been labelled.
