The Alzheimer Society of B.C. exists to alleviate personal and social consequences of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, to promote public awareness and to search for the causes and the cure.
Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, and that world begins with a society where people affected by dementia are welcomed, supported and included.
Together with people with lived experience, we mobilize a broad community of care and support research into the disease to ensure people affected by dementia are not alone.
I have been going to Healthy Smiles for almost 3 years and each time I visit the dental office I find it is very consistent in the professionalism and friendly staff. What I appreciate the most is the educational component to help me take care of my teeth. The dentists in this office are amazing and make me feel very comfortable. I look forward to my next visit at Healthy Smiles.Read more

Modern medicine has excelled in the fields of infectious disease and emergencies in the last 100 years. Although, in the treatments of chronic and degenerative diseases, it is mostly control that it aims for, which is another name for palliation. Conventional drugs, surgery and radiation do little to reverse the disease. These options slow the progression, sometimes with very little benefit, and too often at a great cost in quality of life for the patient.
At Long Table Distillery we believe in hand crafted, small batch and local. Our family owned and operated distillery evolved from a passion for the distillation of fine spirits using traditional distilling practices with our custom designed artisan copper pot still. We love great Gin and we like to push the limits on exploring and creating other innovative new spirits. Each bottle we distribute combines our love of alchemy, the use of local and globally sourced wild foraged botanicals and establishing collaborations along the way. For the past two years we've been growing our family of premium Gins, and unique hand crafted, small batch spirits created in our North False Creek microdistillery. Today our family of spirits include: London Dry Gin; Cucumber Gin; Bourbon Barrelled Gin; Texada Vodka; Langbord Akvavit; and Marc du Soleil Brandy. Our name Long Table celebrates being social, together. Try Gin and Tonic Fridays or Saturday Craft Cocktails. Visit: www.longtabledistillery.com
The Oakwood Canadian Bistro is a fun and unpretentious neighbourhood room specializing in down-to-earth Canadian fare and casual service. The bistro welcomes with a chic Canadian log cabin feel, while the name pays homage to the reclaimed wood materials used in the space, as well as Kitsilano's tree-themed street names. A staff of passionate industry professionals ensures a quality, welcoming experience. The concept for the Oakwood Canadian Bistro was drawn from classic French bistros, in which families invited the public into their homes to eat simply prepared, locally grown food in a warm, casual setting. Striving to utilize local, Canadian ingredients whenever possible, Executive Chef Michael Robbins and his team are guided by a food philosophy focused on fresh, house-made dishes influenced by French techniques. The small, seasonally changing menu caters to market availability and the sustainability of the products.
Going along Broadway I have noticed the restaurant many times and finally decided to drop in for brunch to give it a go. We sat outside, we didn't mind waiting for a table there. Service was fine and the food came fairly soon. I had an excellent smoked ham benedict which came with cubed fries and a very fresh salad.Read more
Even though I do a lot of book shopping online these days I still love going to Chapters and browsing the aisles and aisles and aisles of books. This store is great by virtue of its location and the knowledgeable staff who can guide you to almost any title in the store. It is also a great place to while away an afternoon flipping through books you may buy since the staff pretty much leaves you to your own devices if this is what you are choosing to do. They also have a great little gift section for unique and interesting gift items. They used to have a pretty good music section but this is being renovated right now...possibly because they are no longer going to carry music. Head into Chapters at Broadway and Granville and lose yourself in the books!Read more
