Rajinder Singh (Ron) Sunner & Surinder Kaur (Susan) Sunner established Laketown Furnishings Ltd. in the summer of 1971. Ron & Susan opened their first location on 1st Avenue in Williams Lake in a 2000 square foot building. Forty-two years later Laketown Furnishings still serves Williams Lake & the surrounding area. Over this period of time the business moved several times until it found two inter-connected buildings on 2nd Avenue in 1993. Many customers comment on how this complex resembles a giant maze. Clients often wander over all four floors and travel throughout the 20,000 square foot space as they search for the perfect furniture and appliances for their homes. The company specializes in Canadian suppliers that produce high end upholstered furniture, mattresses, case goods, futons, dining room & bedroom furniture. Incorporated in 1999 Lakecity Appliance repair started by hiring one technician and purchasing the equipment & some spare parts of a repair company that closed its doors. Its raison d'etre comprised a city bereft of an unbiased appliance repair facility capable of providing timely & effective service warranty service. From these humble beginnings it transformed from a single employee operation to one that requires a full time dispatcher / billing specialist, a full time certified repair technician, a full-time apprentice, and three sub-contracted specialist technicians that the company brings in from time to time for complex jobs. Lakecity Appliance Repair provides repair service in Williams Lake and the surrounding area. This area stretches from Alexis Creek in the west, Quesnel to the north,100 Mile House to the South, Horsefly & Likely to the East. Angela was pleased to be hired as an articled student with Vanderburgh & Company in 1999, a position that offered her court circuit experience and travel to Bella Bella, Bella Coola, and Anahim. After her call to the Bar in 2000, Angela stayed on as an Associate at Vanderburgh & Company, and found herself becoming more involved with community organizations and events in Williams Lake. Angela became a Partner with Vanderburgh & Company in 2006. She is involved with the Boys & Girls Club of Williams Lake, is a long-time volunteer of the Williams Lake Access Pro Bono Law Clinic, President of the South Cariboo Bar Association, and a happy member of the Rotary Club of Williams Lake. She is very proud to call Williams Lake her home.

Julian graduated from the Faculty of Arts at McGill University in 2008 and from the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Law in 2011. He first came to Williams Lake as a summer articling student with Vanderburgh & Company in 2010, through the British Columbia CBA’s Rural Education and Access to Lawyers initiative. He returned as an articled student in 2011, joined as an Associate after being called to the Bar in 2012, and became a Partner with the firm in 2014. In his spare time he enjoys hiking and backpacking through British Columbia’s mountains, including through the Cariboo – Chilcotin – Coast region.
