Welcome to Collingwood, one of Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods. This unique neighbourhood dates back to the late 1890's. Many of the early settlers in the area were farmers. Avalon Dairy, one of the oldest established dairy farms in the province, is still located here.In 1890 Collingwood had Vancouver's first streetcars. The fare was a nickel. The line connected Collingwood with New Westminster and Vancouver. Today Collingwood has a modern transit station at Joyce/Collingwood, and you can take Skytrain, bus or car to visit our neighbourhood.Today the 'Village' of Collingwood is a bustling and thriving multicultural community that has a small town feeling in the midst of the big City. Colourful lamppost banners run along a boulevard of trees and planted landscaping in the street median and sidewalks that bring an attractive uniformity to the storefronts. The sidewalks are pedestrian friendly and are regularly cleaned by the Collingwood Clean Team.
Featuring well sculptured and meticulously maintained fairways and greens, Canadian architect Ted Baker designed McCleery Golf Course to offer a target-style golf challenge. With its narrow fairways and many water hazards, the advantage will be on the side of the accurate golfer to challenge this beautiful course graced by mature trees and many water hazards. With a newly renovated driving range featuring additional stalls, onsite washrooms, a private teaching room, and extended hours of operation, McCleery is the place to go to improve all facets of your game.
McCleery is nestled in the Southlands of Vancouver and is a fabulous course for a fabulous price. Bounded by tony riding estates and the Fraser River, McCleery is a calm oasis for a relaxing...or in my case not so relaxing...game of golf. The course is rewarding to the accurate golfer and punishing to the not so accurate golfer but in all ways its a lot of fun. If you show up in advance of your tee-time there is a fantastic driving range and the rates at the range are pretty reasonable. If you have time after your round the club house is great and offer a variety of food choices and of course a range of beverages to wash down your food. The patio is great and sitting out there you would never believe you are only 20 minutes from the bustling centre of the city. For a great round of golf at a great price head over to McCleery!Read more
