Welcome to the River West Park School website. Our site is designed to provide a general introduction to our school and to connect our students and families with the school information they need. River West Park School is a safe and caring neighbourhood school located south of the Assiniboine River in Charleswood on the western edge of the City of Winnipeg. We are part of the Pembina Trails School Division and have been proud to be River West Park's community school for over 30 years. Our mission is to provide quality education in a safe, nurturing, stimulating environment. As an inclusive school community, we promote responsibility, respect, team work, and academic excellence. RWP offers the full English track Manitoba provincial curriculum to students from Kindergarten to grade 9 in a modern, well-equipped spacious facility. Our program aims to challenge children academically, cultivate them artistically and engage them physically while fostering their healthy social-emotional development in a friendly, community environment
Join Our NewsletterHistory Of The OrganizationIn 1971 a group of parents from the community formed a play group for their children aged 2yrs to 5 yrs. They used space in a local church for three mornings a week. Program materials were mostly on a donation basis plus a small fee collected from the parents registered in the program. Teachers were provided on a volunteer basis - each parent taking a turn on a rotational basis. This play school operated successfully and within one year had expanded from three morning sessions with 12 children attending to three morning sessions and three afternoon sessions with 20 children attending each half day session. In 1972 the parents decided to become a legal entity. The parents had always operated co-operatively and so decided to form a co-operative organization and became known as West End Co-operative Nursery School Inc. The founding members are Margaret Black, Maxine Kemp and Adrianne Bride. This group of parents became highly active in the community and branched into such areas as a full time day care, lunch and after school programs and community resource.
Welcome from the Board of DirectorsOn behalf of our Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome you to the General Child and Family Services website. We have tried to create a website that is informative, easy to use and hopefully of interest to a wide audience including staff of the child and family services system, foster parents, students doing research and the general public. In the website you'll find our vision, mission, values and strategic direction: all elements that guide our plans to strengthen services for the children, youth and families that we serve. You can also learn the General Authority's roles and responsibilities under the governance structure for child and family services in Manitoba that was created through new legislation in 2003. I encourage you to read our specific initiatives and service enhancements and how these represent leading practices in the field of child welfare. You'll also find informative presentations on various topics related to child welfare and the General Authority.
