As a registrant of a self-regulating profession, a dental hygienist must practice safely, ethically, and effectively for the promotion of the oral health and well-being of the public, as outlined by the CDHBC Practice Standards. In accordance with the Health Professions Act, the practice of dental hygiene is monitored and regulated by independent governing bodies in each province. Certain provinces, including B.C., require dental hygienists to obtain national certification (see NDHCB) before applying for registration. Those who have not graduated from an accredited program (listed in Schedule I) and/or have not been previously registered within Canada, or dental hygienists from other countries, also must successfully challenge the CDHBC Clinical Exam in order to apply for registration to practice within British Columbia.

City Sports & Physiotherapy Clinic is a clinical teaching facility affiliated with the Department of Physical Therapy at UBC. Vertical Reality is an exciting gym with over 150 climbing routes and boulder problems on 7500 square feet of wall and over 650 square feet of climbable roof. The gym's design offer something for everyone, regardless of age or skill level. For kids we have lots of drop-in times, youth courses, and an ongoing Youth Program. Our Youth Program is Suitable for ages 7 and up. Participants are allowed to climb with and belay each other, under close supervision. For inexperienced rock climbers will enjoy our extensive bouldering and routes ranging from 5.7 to 5.13. Take our Advanced Belay Course to get into lead climbing, or a Technique Class to improve your climbing skills. Most of our walls are lead equipped with qickdraws and dynamic ropes.
