Credit Counselling Sudbury, a division of Sudbury Community Service Centre Inc. is a non-profit, registered charitable organization. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that reflects the community we serve. We have been providing practical assistance and guidance to people with debt and money management problems in the Greater Sudbury area since 1972. Our services are available in both official languages for families and individuals from any age group, culture, or income level. Our clients come from all lifestyles.
When a L'Arche community is being founded and in the early years thereafter, there is a wonderful energy that invades the hearts of those who are involved in building relationships together. L'Arche Sudbury was no exception to this phenomenon. From Roma, who personified hospitality ('do you want a beer?') to Tim, who couldn't get your coat off quick enough, Emmaus House was quickly transformed into a home. The community was blessed with a strong Board of Directors and committed assistants who brought much stability to these new beginnings. Another hallmark that we all depended on was God's providence. Over and over again we were surprised by the tiny miracles that made the unlikely, possible! As we grew and welcomed more people into the community we also began to experience the loss of loved ones, when, only six years after joining us, Leslie Ann died. This mixture of joy and sadness is a part of each person's reality and when shared with another makes life more meaningful and rich. Community life has been a gift for all of us over the years, whether for a short time or over the long haul.
Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) was established as a grassroots pilot project in 1971, with the intent to keep people independent in their homes by supplying daily hot nutritious meals. Today, we serve hundreds of local residents delicious and healthy meals every week thanks to our home delivery service.
We assist those in need of nutritional support who need short term (caregiver relief, recuperation, seasonal) or long term assistance. Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) currently has approximately 89 volunteers. In 2014, these volunteers accumulated over 5,000 hours with our volunteer drivers logging over 92,000 km in deliveries alone.
Using a Feminist approach, the Centre Victoria pour femmes offers French speaking women individual intervention as well as group intervention, accompaniment, referral and representation services. Prevention, awareness and education are also at the core of our interventions and are integrated in our various programs to prevent and end all forms of violence against women. Our services are mainly offered to French speaking women of 16 years and up in the Greater Sudbury and Algoma regions.

Great outfit but unfortunately seems to be losing a lot of ground to competing Value Village. On the one hand, their selection is typically much less impressive, and the overall quality of items is generally lower. BUT their pricing makes sense. There's no way I'm paying 4.99 for a used book in relatively poor condition at VV when I could get it for 25-cents at the Army. For a reseller looking for stock that's the difference between a flop and a flip. I donate stuff to both, and shop both.Read more
CELA has used legal tools to increase environmental protection and safeguard communities. As a Legal Aid Clinic , our top priority is to represent low income individuals and communities and to speak out for those with less influence and who receive less of a say in decision-making.
