As of August 22, 2014Butcher cows traded fully steady this week with top end cows bringing $120-125. Good fleshed age verified cows bring a $2-4 premium. Good bulls bring $138-142 this week. $2-5 higher than previous sale. In the feeder market the bulk of the trade was on light yearlings and the market was fully steady. A good sample of new crop calves traded $10-15 higher with most going into local orders. Holstein feeders trade very strong with limited supply. It appears a good time to cull older cows with light calves as both are selling very high. 400 lb calves almost hitting $3.00/lb.
