The original MacAulay's Bakery and Delicatessen was established by two MacAulay's sisters in the mid-1980's in the Shop's of St. Awards, located at the delta of Mount Edward Road and St. Peter's Road in greater Charlottetown. The MacAulay's, who derived from Souris, P.E.I., had garnered considerable experience in the bakery deli industry while operating a business in Montreal. Returning to Prince Edward Island, they capitalized upon their experience, thereby establishing a devoted clientele through provision of fresh, home style baking and a selection of meat, cheeses, and prepared deli products. Products are baked from scratch using the freshest, natural ingredients available without addition of commercial preservatives. Purchase of some perishable items is done on a daily basis, since quality and freshness is of paramount importance. MacAulay's philosophy is to keep its food simple, affordable and delicious.
