In 1947, the concept of Devil's Elbow Lodge became a reality when Carson (Pete) and Florence Johns began construction of the facilities in an old bull pasture on Sharrow Lake. It has been under continuous operation and management by the Johns family since its inception.Devils' Elbow Lodge has grown from its humble beginnings to a central lodge, 9 cottages and a recreation room. Sharrow Lake is a small secluded lake without dwellings not connected to the Johns family. Each cottage accommodates up to 6 persons, and consists of a combined living room/kitchen and 2 bedrooms. All are equipped for complete housekeeping (with the exception of linens); and utilize propane stoves, lamps, refrigerators and heaters. Due to our completely isolated location, hydro is unavailable.Bathrooms are centrally located with flush toilets and hot and cold showers.
It is a time when all involved are challenged to recognize the claims of the Lord Jesus Christ on their lives, and to give themselves fully to be used for His glory.Register TodayTestimonialsI started going to Galilee when I was 16 not knowing a single soul, I met some great people that year and kept in with them. That year was a life changing experience for me because I have never felt such love from Gods people. Never thought I would go back but I did and started to really get more involved with the camp and committing my summer there, serving as a counsellor and support staff. Every year I always look forward to going to camp!Isaac Mendita, Camper and Staff''I went to leadership this year and learned so much about discipleship in that we shouldnt just be disciples but that we should be makers of disciples as well. The speakers were very practical and funny too! The trip was demanding but in a stimulating way. I made friendships at leadership that will last forever!''BJ Nicholson, Leadership CamperI have spent many years at Galilee in the past both as a camper and on staff
The centre of camp activity is a spacious lodge with a large fireplace. Across from the Dining Hall is 'The Rock' inviting all to climb and explore or just to sit down and dream. Near the river an outdoor chapel provides a quiet place for worship and meditation. Time at the McLaren Craft Centre is one of the very popular features of the day and many craft skills can be learned there.
