Cynthia Howroyd is a Speech Language Pathologist with many years of experience. She specializes in serving children with social/behavior and learning challenges such as Autism, ADHD and Learning Disability. She works setting up and supervising preschool and school-age programs for families of children with autism throughout the Maritimes. Her background includes a list of awards for product innovation in the field of autism. She has been an invited speaker on topics in autism, social skill development and behavior throughout North America and internationally. She has also worked on literacy learning projects for the NS Department of Education and the Learning Disability Association of Nova Scotia. Currently she serves as President of the Speech and Hearing Association of Nova Scotia and is Board Member for the Antigonish Guysborough Early Childhood Intervention Program. Dalbrae Academy, grades 9 - 12 school is located along Hwy 19, south of Mabou. Our civic address is 11156 and our mailing address is PO Box 220, Mabou, NS BOE 1XO. Dalbrae opening in September 2000 with approximately 500 students. This school year 2014-2015 we have 260 students with 20 teaching staff. Support staff consists of one building operator, one secretary, one librarian, two teacher assistants, four janitors, and eleven bus drivers.The following catchment areas make up Dalbrae's student population, Creignish, Long Point, Judique, Port Hood, Mabou, Brook Village, Skye Glen, Whycocomagh, River Denys, Orangedale, Waycobah and all areas in between.

The Academy was founded in Milwaukee, WI in 2007, by Carmen Ballering. Carmen is an award winning event decorator who did work for major corporate clients, such as Kohls and Estee Lauder. She opened her first party and gift shop in 1991. Carmen had owned Precious Times, a floral and gift basket shop at Southridge Mall in Greendale WI and also owned Pretty Weddings and Events, LLC, a decorating firm that also did work as Balloons Milwaukee, LLC.Carmen's work has been featured on numerous tv shows such as Deco Drive, Despierta America, Sábado Gigante as well as events such as the Miami International Film Fest and the Jill's Gold for Life on Palm Island.
