The School of Dance, Music and Theatre was established as a project of the India Association of Winnipeg in 1980, with a mandate to promote the East Indian visual and performing arts in Manitoba. In 1983, the institution was independently incorporated as the ''INDIA SCHOOL OF DANCE, MUSIC & THEATRE INC.''. In 1986, the School acquired its own studios/offices at 567 St. Mary's Road (Winnipeg Manitoba). From a small beginning of only 25 students, the School now accommodates well over 150. The school provides instruction in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Hindustani Vocal Music / Harmonium, Flute, Sitar, Tabla and Carnatic Vocal Music
The Institute of Dance is a Winnipeg dance school that offers lessons in a variety of styles for students of all ages, ranging from pre-schoolers to adults. We’ve trained award-winning dancers.
Christabel Leung, student of the Institute of Dance of Manitoba, have received the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal Award. An international Award of the highest calibre, the Solo Seal is awarded to very few worldwide each year.
