As a faith community, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSCDSB) education system seeks to provide learning opportunities that recognizes the dignity of each person, encourages social justice, and challenges students and staff to become “fully alive”. The NPSCDSB exists so that students, enlightened by their Catholic faith, become contributing, fulfilled responsible citizens of a global society at a justifiable use of resources.
The NPSCDSB has 11 elementary schools, 1 secondary school, and 1 adult education campus, serving approximately 3,200 students across North Bay, West Nipissing, Mattawa, Powassan and Callander, and offers rich learning environments that provide students with the skills they need to be confident, engaged and community-oriented during their school years and beyond.
Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord operates 14 French catholic elementary schools and 3 French catholic secondary schools in Mattawa, Bonfield, Astorville, Thorne, North Bay, Sturgeon Falls, River Valley, and Verner. These schools offer a continuous French-language program starting in junior kindergarten and going on through to grade twelve. Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord's French-language schools provide a safe and caring environment where children and young adults are treated with respect and given every opportunity for success. High standards are the norm and are reflected in provincial test results. Our students participate in daily physical activity, sports, artistic and cultural events as well as community projects. Technology is integrated into the curricula throughout the grades, starting in junior kindergarten. As a faith-based school system, Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord supports parents who want their children to develop spiritually.
