John was raised in Northern Ontario and quickly joined the Canadian Forces, which resulted in his first posting in Petawawa. After leaving the military he enjoyed a successful career as a public servant, during which time he was able to move around the Valley and get to know the area and enjoy what it has to offer. Having lived in Ottawa, Carleton Place, Almonte, Dunrobin Petawawa and decided while in the process of retiring from public service to call Round Lake home.
