Established March 3, 1820, Paqtnkek Mi'kmaw Nation is located in Antigonish County, 24km east of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The name Paqtnkek, meaning 'by the bay', is a distinction emphasizing the importance of the local bay and its resources to the Mi'kmaw people.

The First Blade For The Sable Wind Project Is Pictured Here On Its Way Through Guysborough To The Site In Hazel Hill On Tuesday. The Blades And Most Of The Parts, Which Arrived At The Port Of Sheet Harbour On Monday, Are Making Their Way From Sheet Harbour Up To New Glasgow, Along The Trans Canada And All The Way Down Route 16 To The Sable Wind Site. Later This Week, The Gigantic Towers, Which Are Coming From Quebec, Will Arrive Via Highway 316 Lower South River Road, Cross Through Giants Lake To Roachvale, Proceed Left On Larrys River Road To Highway 16 And On To The Site. It Is Expected That Assembly Will Be Begin Soon After The Towers Arrive.

First and foremost I would like to welcome all the new grade students to our school for the coming year and all new grade 11 and 12 students as well. Our enrollment has increased by about 60 students this year bringing us to over a 1000 students to start school in the fall. This year we are going to entering our second year of the Alberta Learning High School Redesign Pilot Project. This project allows high schools the flexibility to try different initiatives to enhance student learning. One initiative that has been well received by the students is the Flex block that we have created in the middle of the day. During this 40 minute block all teachers are in their classrooms but without a scheduled class at that time. Students are able to access the teachers for extra support, work on homework, or complete projects. It has been a valuable opportunity for many students.
