We are Tseshaht The Tseshaht First Nation is a vibrant community on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in Port Alberni, British Columbia, with an active and progressive natural resources-based economy. We are proud of our culture and work as a community to preserve our traditional values and the teachings.Tseshaht translates as 'the people of Ts'ishaa,' a place on what is known today as Benson Island, one of the Broken Group Islands in Barkley Sound. We are one of the 14 Nations that make up the Nuu-chah-nulth [Nootka] people of western Vancouver Island.

We are located in Port Alberni, BC and consist of approximately 300 members and 5 reserves.The two main reserves, Ahahswinis and Kleekoot are to about half of our population.We opened our new offices and hall, the House of Gathering, in January 2002.

Welcome! Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue has played a vital role in the Comox Valley for over 35 years and we look forward to many more years of service.We are a volunteer organization providing a wide range of search and rescue services, including rope and swift water rescue, avalanche rescue, and first aid. Our coverage area ranges from Oyster River in the north to Cook Creek in the south and from Buttle Lake in the west to the Georgia Strait in the east, including Denman and Hornby Islands. We also work closely with other Search and Rescue groups to provide mutual aid to Vancouver Island communities.Our highly committed volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In 2011, we collectively contributed over 10,000 hours to search and rescue operations, educational programs, and community events. In early 2012, we recruited 20 new volunteers for the upcoming Ground Search and Rescue course.

Comox Valley Project Watershed Society is a registered non-profit environmental society with Canadian charitable tax status focused on sensitive habitat stewardship. The organization is guided by a volunteer board and managed by staff. We are also a partner of the Comox Valley Conservation Strategy and have a representative on the Environmental Council.
