We are "the People of the Land" and we have occupied the lands of our traditional territory in the Northeast of British Columbia for tens of thousands of years. Our connection with the land and the resources of our territory goes back many generations. We were, and still are, hunters and gatherers and we moved around the territory with the seasons, and with the animals that sustained our way of life and our livelihood. We were historically known as the Fort Nelson Slavey Band.

The Yukon Employees' Union (YEU) is one of the youngest members of the PSAC National Board of Directors. Our founding convention took place in June 1990. However, we have been a member of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) since 1966. During the first 24 years of our existence, YEU was recognized as a unique 'Local' entity within the Alliance structure.YEU elected its first full-time President in 1987. At the 2008 Triennial Convention, members voted to convert the office of 1st Vice-President into a full-time paid position. All other executive members are volunteers elected from Locals across the territory.

Fort Nelson Aboriginal Friendship Society is a centre for counseling and healing. As our name suggests, we are located in Fort Nelson, BC. We work with all ages, providing a range of programs, including our Youth Program and Elder's Social. We also offer a Transition House for women, addictions counselling and many more outreach programs. The Yukon Native Language Centre is a training and research facility which provides a range of linguistic and educational services to Yukon First Nations and to the general public. It is located in the Commons wing of Yukon College, Ayamdigut Campus, Whitehorse, Canada. The Centre is administered by the Council of Yukon First Nations with funds provided by the Government of Yukon.
