Steele Funeral Home is a family owned and operated funeral home located in a beautifully decorated century-old stone facility that provides a homey and comfortable atmosphere. We offer a broad range of services intended to meet and surpass the expectations of the families we serve. Whether you choose a Traditional or Complete Funeral Package, Partial Service Package or one of our Cremation Packages one of our Directors is there to help you through the entire process. The Steele Funeral Home is determined to give a 'cost consideration without compromise' approach to funerals while still providing the highest level of service and care to the residents of the Quinte area. In 2007, we constructed our new Steele Family Reception Centre across the parking lot from the Funeral Home to allow families a time for remembrance and refreshments without any distractions. Other services include Pre-Planned Funeral Arrangements which helps reduce the anxiety for family members.
When guests walk into Burke Funeral Home, the first thing they see is our inviting foyer with a fireplace to warm them. Our chapel seats up to 120 guests for traditional services or Celebrations of Life. There are full kitchen facilities and catering is available for families that choose to hold a reception. Burke is wheelchair accessible, and we provide 60 parking spaces on-site. We are equipped with a state-of-the-art audiovisual system to ensure that every guest can hear and see perfectly. We are part of the Arbor Memorial family, a Canadian company with a long-standing tradition of exceptional service. Our caring and compassionate staff members are active in the local community and raise money for charities every year.
MacCoubrey Funeral Home has been working hand in hand with Cobourg Union Cemetery to develop a green option for the environmentally concerned members of the public. The green package offered by the funeral home includes environmental stationery, environmental embalming, environmental caskets and reduced vehicle usage. In conjunction with this the cemetery is opening a green section for environmental burials, those being immediate burials or environmentally embalmed burials using environmental containers or caskets. No standard embalmings or cremations will be allowed in this section of the cemetery. This portion of the cemetery will be left in a natural setting with limited grounds keeping. Central field stone markers are planned to be used rather than individual markers. Tree planting and natural vegetation will be encouraged.

The Community Alternative Difference: 1) Experience: John Cunningham has been a licensed funeral director for the past 24 years. Beginning with his great-grandfather, Louis Nicholas Phippen, John's family has provided funeral services for the people of Ontario for four generations. John has had the honour of providing his services for prestigious funeral homes such as Humphrey-Miles, Turner & Porter, and Ogden Funeral Homes. 2) Affordability: Community Alternative was founded to provide affordable services to the Peterborough community. By keeping our facilities modest and using existing facilities in our community, we are able to offer our services and merchandise at an approximate average of half the cost currently available in our community. 3) Locally owned and operated: We are not owned by a multinational funeral conglomerate. All decisions are made at the community level and we are able to respond to local needs and conditions immediately.
