Montessori is a comprehensive educational approach based on the observation of children's needs in a
variety of cultures all around the world.
Children in Montessori classroom learn through play, “Play is the work of the child” she says. Dr. Maria Montessori developed this educational approach based on her understanding of children's natural learning
tendencies as they unfold in “prepared environments". “The environment must be rich in motives which lend
interests to activities and invite the child to conduct his own experiences”. Montessori classrooms have children of multi-age groups where they learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning. She believes children become “lifelong learners” if they enjoy learning. “Within the child lays the fate of future”, therefore as the educators we must respect them, meet their needs and teach them well.
Sunny South Day Care Centre believes that children begin learning the day they are born. Early childhood is a time of curiosity, enthusiasm and discovery, and as Early Childhood Educators, the staff believe that our experience and education can make a significant contribution to the lives of the children and parents that use our services.
Children's House is committed to providing a play based environment focusing on an emergent curriculum, grounded in child development.

The Spanish Montessori Learning Centre (SMLC) is the first Spanish Immersion pre-school program in the city of Lethbridge. It is our goal to provide a place where children can be exposed mainly to the Spanish language in a fun and educational environment. We follow the Montessori Philosophy and Methodology in the program for Toddlers and Preschoolers (2 to 6 years olds). For the infants (0 to 2 years) we provide a loving and safe place where children, and where they will be immersed mainly in the Spanish Language. We believe in the importance of individual and free learning, providing the children with a safe nurturing and interesting environment so they can discover about themselves others and the world around them. Our Focus is to give children opportunities to do everyday practical activities that will help them develop their sensory, motor, emotional, language, social and problem solving skills.
SMLC is such a wonderful daycare. All three of my children attend since they were 10 months old. Everyone is so kind and friendly. My kids are treated with lots of love and respect. I definitely recommend SMLC to anyone. Read more
