EAB was first sighted in York Region in 2008, and is now found throughout the Region and much of southern Ontario. Over the next three to five years the Towns Parks & Facilities Division will be removing infested trees. Additional trees of a different species will be planted throughout Georgina, under the Georgina Tree Planting Program, during usual planting seasons in the fall and spring. The trend for public libraries is away from the static, institutional storage facility of the past. We embrace the new role of community hub and try to provide a safe, positive, comfortable and inviting environment for customers. We believe in the library as the place where the community can meet to explore interests, meet friends, attend programs and events for all ages and interests. We strive to create a balance that will allow all of these activities to take place in an environment where all ages are respected and welcomed. We understand that our community deserves the best customer service that it is within our power to deliver, and that current library trends aim to move beyond bricks and mortar to provide an experience for their customers that will enhance their enjoyment of facilities and services and ensure they become lifelong patrons and advocates of the public library. We will strive to create and maintain partnerships and strong relationships with community stakeholders to ensure that our role is understood and valued within the community
