Founded in 2006 by Robin Furlong, with over a decade of experience in the steel fabrication industry, Furlong Steel is a young but successful Calgary-based steel fabrication and coatings provider. Robin?s experience as a journeyman steel fabricator, machinist, CNC operator, shop supervisor, and quality control inspector at large fabrication and engineering companies provided him with a wealth of knowledge and a strong foundation for self-employment in Calgary?s steel fabrication industry. Robin?s vendor-customer experience and extensive industry connections allowed him to initiate business as a subcontractor assisting clients in finding the right fabrication and/or paint shop for the precise job they needed done. Less than a year later an opportunity came up for Robin to own his own paint and blast shop. He then became a NACE certified paint inspector in order to satisfy the demands of his most discriminating clients. As the paint shop grew in demand, Furlong Steel has expanded to include separate large paint and blast facilities that provide quality sandblasting, coatings, and powder coatings services. In early 2010, an opportunity arose for Robin to go back to his roots in steel fabrication and Furlong Steel acquired a large, 14,500 sq ft fabrication shop next to the paint and blast booths. The proximity and accessibility of these two services will allow Furlong Steel to greater meet the needs of clients by managing projects from start to absolute completion and will save customers the cost of shipping between fabrication, blast and paint shops, all with one point of contact. Because of the slow and steady growth of Furlong Steel Industries, our company has developed many long-term customer relationships based on quality work, reliability and trust. It is with these principles that we hope to continue to grow our fabrication services as well.
