This section is dedicated to the history of Port Dover's commercial fishing industry, which continues to be an important part of local life.Permanent Galleries present exhibits on the days of commercial sail as well as Lake Erie shipwrecks, ship building, Long Point, rum running, and other aspects of lakeside life in this unique community.Outdoor Attractions include the 1932 fishtug Almidart, a 1912 lake-freighter wheelhouse, and access to the river along our picturesque wooden dock. Since 2002, the museum has been the home to a major collection of artifacts from the 1852 wreck of the Steamer Atlantic near Long Point.

Thomas among the leading railway divisional centres, in point of equipment, on the American continent and no effort has been spared either by the Michigan Central Railway or the contractors to make both the buildings and the equipment the most up-to-date possible to obtain. This new industrial building also impacted the community economically, employing more than 400 workers at its peak. The Elgin County Railway Museum has been housed in the 52,000 square foot building since it's incorporation in 1989, and purchased the property in 2010. Elgin County Railway Museum Mission Statement:To preserve, teach, and display to the public the rich heritage of the railroads and their role in the development of St. Thomas and Elgin County.The railway has been part of St. Thomas since the completion of the London and Port Stanley Railway in 1856. More than 26 railways have passed through the city.
Fanshawe Pioneer Village tells the story of rural communities in the former townships of Westminster, London, North Dorchester, Delaware, West Nissouri and Lobo in Middlesex County from 1820 to 1920 and the founding and development of the City of London up to 1840.Fanshawe Pioneer Village is owned and operated by the not-for-profit charity known as the London and Middlesex Heritage Museum with the support of the City of London, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, the Municipality of Thames Centre and the Municipality of Middlesex Centre.
