Scott Bagshaw was born in Montreal, and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After earning his BA from the University of Winnipeg, he travelled across Europe, eventually tarrying in his ancestral home of England. Like many a criminal mind before him, he then moved to Australia, where he earned a degree in education from the University of Wollongong. Following a short tenure teaching high school, he was lured back into the kitchen as head chef at Monsoon, a Vietnamese restaurant. Drawing on years of kitchen experience already accrued, and inspired by the increasingly dynamic role of the modern chef, Scott had 'Chef For Life' tattooed on his forearm and hasn't looked back since.
Come taste a yummy creation at Stella's Cafe & Bakery. Come recline on their terrace under the sun. They are open late from Monday to Friday. You can get there by car.
On my coworkers' recommendation, my fiancé and I strolled over to Stella's for the first time for brunch. It was definitely a busy place at 12:30 on a Sunday, though we didn't have to wait too long to be given a table, order, and have our food brought to us. My fiancé really enjoyed the smoked salmon breakfast, particularly the light whipped cream cheese it was served with. I had the pancake breakfast- the eggs were rich and delicious, the pancakes sweet, light and fluffy, and the bacon nicely cooked. While waiting in line in front of their bakery display, I couldn't help but order a spice cookie and a cinnamon bun to go. The cookie was good... it was a little too cake-like in texture for me, but that's a personal preference. The cinnamon bun is delectable (what's left of it is sitting next to me as I write!)- delicious caramelized brown sugar cinnamon filling, and a thick layer of frosting, all brought together with nice, tender, not-too-sweet bread dough. We will definitely be back!Read more
