It’s easy to miss newly opened Nakamori-it occupies the former home of Scarborough’s Zen Japanese Restaurant-but chef and owner Nobuyuki Nakamori is busy inside concocting various dishes in preparation for this month’s grand opening. It’s a cozy and intimate spot, with choices of standard tables, two low Japanese-style tables and the sushi bar, where you can admire the chef’s plating skills. Chef Nobu most recently worked in the kitchen at Susur Lee’s Bent, and he credits Lee with instilling in him the importance of food presentation. As each dish proves, this lesson has been well learned. Fine restaurant offering Innovative Japanese cuisine in downtown Toronto. We are a home style Japanese restaurant, located in J-town; Markham's best kept secret. :) At green tea lounge we provide relaxing service, calm atmosphere and unique setting. We do try our best to serve customers as much as possible and make your visit the best it can be. We are happy to solve any problems, so that your meal is pleasant. Our competitive advantage is that we have meals that are commonly known in Japan as well as meals that aren't readily available in Canada. Most commonly known Japanese dishes are sushi, tempura, and teriyaki, but our restaurant has a lot more to offer. :) and yes, we also have tempura, teriyaki, and sushi(sushi only on weekends). lol
Went to this Tea House for lunch on a spur of the moment decision while in the Toronto area and checking out Jtown. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and how super nice the owner/waitress was and at a really good price! I want to go back again the next time I'm in that area. Read more

While Zen is our favourite Japanese Restaurant, my boyfriend and I have enjoyed dining here for their enoki maki (thin slices of beef wrapped around enoki-Japanese mushrooms). Their nigiri and sashimi while delicious is not a priority for us to order as they serve very thin small pieces for the price you pay. We have also had their sukiyaki (we cook ourselves on the table) and it is large enough for 3 people, although much more expensive ($60 for 2 people which includes rice and raw egg for dipping) than other restaurants where we have enjoyed the same. The sukiyaki comes traditionally (as they served), with slices of thin sukiyaki beef, tofu, Chinese cabbage, green onion, oyster mushrooms, shitake mushrooms and regular mushrooms, transparent thin noodles and onion. Their broth was excellent-not too sweet. A great meal to have on a cold day. Read more
Akasaka, noted as one of Richmond Hill's best Japanese restaurants, offers an extensive menu as well as a variety of services. Akasaka uses Teppanyaki Cooking Tables (iron griddle), frequently with the hot plate located in the center of the diner's table. The preparation of the meal by a teppanyaki chef can be very entertaining as well as educational. Asakasa's express lunch specials are also favourite with the busy lunch crowd. Akasaka also offers sushi cooking classes with celebrity chefs as well as catering services with a pre-set menu. The newly renovated Teppanyaki Steak House. Corporate Lunch and learning program, great fro team building and hands-on Sushi cooking classes. Conference VIP Room available, great place for Birthdays and Anniversary parties. Catering from 6 to 6000 pieces.

My boyfriend and I have visited Akasaka a few times now and have enjoyed every dining experience here. Although the owner is Chinese, he has studied in Japan and the chefs are Japanese. We agree that they serve up the best rolls in Richmond Hill. During our most recent visit here a couple of weeks ago, we enjoyed their 10 tation roll (unbelievably delicious lobster roll deep fried!), Crown Royal Roll (fois gras, eel, caviar & gold glitter), Super Rainbow (soft shell crab), and a few pieces of nigiri. Some of their rolls look questionable ('Thai' Passion, 'Korean' kim-chee roll), and being of Japanese descent, I avoided these. Thai/Korean twists should not be mixed or confused with Japanese rolls - surely they serve these to cater to Koreans and people who enjoy Thai food. We strictly stick to their rolls (and make an exception to some nigiri). Not every Japanese restaurant does well with bringing in top quality sashimi. The waiter did not bring us our dry noodle sticks which they bring to every table at no cost. We had to ask and later remind them twice. My boyfriend ordered us the green tea creme brulee for dessert as he enjoys it very much. The serving is very small, however it is quite delicious. Our bill came to approx $78 (no alcohol). The rolls are not cheap, but you pay to get top quality here. All the rolls we had were excellent - among my favourites were the 10 tation & Crown Royal rolls. If you've had them, you will understand what I mean. They are killer! The teppanyaki here is also very popular, as evidenced by the occupied tables. We however don't do teppanyaki, as you pay for the show. The food is not spectacular and if you're coming to a Japanese restaurant which is well-known for its rolls, its these items which one should stick with. Read more
My first time going to Sushi Legend on Ravel Road and to be honest with you, I am very very happy. This place is new so everything is sparkling. The design of the restaurant is so modern and classic, I fell in love instantly. The all you can eat lunch is $12.95 and considering all of the different choices they have, it is soo soo soo worth it. The place is big and comfy and can accommodate a lot of people. The servers are all fluent in English, very friendly and serve you very quickly. My lunch bento box which was $8.50 came in 5 minutes. I was impressed. I cannot even think of one bad thing to say about this place. Everybody should come and visit! :) Read more
