Lacombe Outreach School is a non-traditional school which focuses on 'making a difference' for students while they pursue their public education. Students succeed at Lacombe Outreach School because of the respectful educational environment that recognizes that students have different ways of learning. Programs are tailored to the individual needs of students, whether those needs involve self-directed or teacher-directed learning.
The Education Centre operates on a 12 month continuum for clients of the Centennial Centre For Mental Health and Brain Injury. Hours of operation are 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Clients participate in individual and group therapy sessions provided by qualified teaching staff. The emphasis is on enhancing cognitive rehabilitation in the areas of memory, attention, language, reading, mathematics, written expression and computer training. Instruction is offered in credit courses up to and including Grade 12.
Client goals are estabished and reviewed with input from the interdisciplinary team, the client, and the client's family.
Using priority intervention criteria, clients may receive between 2 to 4 hours of individual therapy per week and/or up to 4 hours of group therapy.
The Education Centre serves an average of 20 to 30 clients daily. Between 160-200 individual clients are served annually.
At Crestomere School, our focus is to guide students as environmental stewards and help them grow into independent researchers, tech-savvy creators, global collaborators, and 21st century learners. We believe the aim of education at our school is to develop abilities of individuals in order that they make a positive contribution to society. Mecca Glen is a small rural school located east of Ponoka. There are currently approximately 135 students attending Mecca Glen and a staff of 12. Here at Mecca Glen our staff, parents and community members are committed to working together to ensure success for all of our students.
