A type of slate found on the Queen Charlotte Islands, argillite is preserved and protected for the cultural use of Haida carvers. Collected worldwide and with a history of 200 years of carving, the Haida have continued to offer a high standard of art form with this medium. Today we can enjoy a range of mastery and imagination as we witness three generations continue the legacy of argillite carving. Of course all of our Argillite is Authentic and signed by the carver as it is our policy to promote and support these Haida artists of our time. Masset is the located at the northern end and is the largest community on the 150 islands that make up the Queen Charlotte's in north west British Columbia. Alaska View Lodge is located along the north coast of Graham Island, between the town of Masset and Tow Hill. It is surrounded by the ancient rainforest of Naikoon Provincial Park, and is situated right on the beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the distant Alaskan Islands.
