We have been taking our daughter to the zoo since she was a toddler and she still loves going today. Perennial Zoo members we take full advantage of our membership and often use the zoo as a last minute spot to go spend time as a family. We feel that the Greater Vancouver Zoo does a nice job of providing large habitats for the animals under their care as well as keeping them well cared for and entertained. The train is loads of fun and a good way for people with limited mobility to see a large portion of the zoo without having to walk the whole way...the engineer is also the narrator and has interesting little tidbits to tell about some of the animals. They also rent bicycles that fit four people (two pedaling and two riding) for those who still want to get a little exercise but make sure they don't miss anything. The only small criticism I have is around the amenities. The snack bar is a little plain and the bathrooms could use a little sprucing up. That said I would rather they invest as much of their budget as they can into the care of the animals. Visit the Greater Vancouver Zoo for a fun and interesting family experience!Read more
The 'step by step switch' was designed and built by retired BC Telephone Company employees for BC Tel's 100th Anniversary, and donated by them. Pick up the telephone at either end and dial the number listed. You can now watch how the switch processes your call. Bring a friend to answer the call.

Opium smoking, a pastime brought with them from China, was common among the imported labourers and at the time seemed to be the activity of choice on their day off from the cannery.
