Emerald Ash Borer in GeorginaThe Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a highly invasive insect that attacks, feeds on, and kills all species of healthy ash trees. EAB was first sighted in York Region in 2008, and is now found throughout the Region and much of southern Ontario. Over the next three to five years the Towns Parks & Facilities Division will be removing infested trees. Additional trees of a different species will be planted throughout Georgina, under the Georgina Tree Planting Program, during usual planting seasons in the fall and spring. With an approved CIP, the Town of Georgina can now establish grant or loan programs in order to encourage private sector investment in development efforts that seek to improve and revitalize the community
The Friends of the Osborne Collection has over 500 members, primarily located in Canada but extending worldwide. Our group includes book lovers, storytellers, teachers, professors, collectors, students...people who care about early children's books, and want to help build, conserve and promote use of one of the foremost English-language children's book collections. we have supported the Osborne Collection of Early Children's Books by raising funds for special projects, includingacquisitions, beyond Toronto Public Library's regular budget, cataloguing and conservation projects, outreach through sponsored events
