The theme, The Mystery of Migration, explored many different aspects of migration including the migration of waterfowl and songbirds and the seasonal movement of ungulates, carnivores, butterflies, bats, fish and even humans. A full week of more than 90 field trips, presentations and workshops culminated with a Gala banquet and an exciting and enthusiastic presentation by Brian Keating, world-renowned naturalist who has explored nearly 50 countries on all seven continents. Brian Keating spent three full days at the Festival giving school presentations and leading field trips, communicating and teaching about the world's astonishing and fragile biodiversity.A recent exceptional find of a fossil bed of significant importance in the Kootenay National Park has inspired our theme for the festival in 2015, Fossils and Feathers.
