Cafe Diplomatico was first opened in 1968 by Rocco Mastrangelo Sr., shortly thereafter younger brother Paul came on board. The brothers envisioned having a typical Italian bar where Italian nationals could gather in the morning over coffee. At a time in Toronto when outdoor dining was almost unheard of, the sunny patio quickly caught on and now almost 4 decades later what started out as an innovation in the neighborhood has now set the standard. Over the years the popularity of the Diplomatico has caused the bar to expand into a full restaurant eventually taking over the store next door as well. The dip (as it is affectionately referred to by it's many regulars) has had staying power due to it's versatile & reasonably priced menu paired with it's comfortable & unpretentious atmosphere. Approaching 5 decades the restaurant is still owned by the Mastrangelo family, younger brother Paul now runs it with Rocco Mastrangelo Jr.

On April 8, 2011 we opened Trattoria Taverniti. Each day we are in the kitchen making our pomodoro sauce, meatballs, gnocchi, lasagna, chicken eggplant parmigiana, tiramisu, and other delicious foods - all from scratch.
Excellent and cute family owned restaurant in Little Italy, Toronto. We had the pleasure of celebrating sweet Nonna's birthday (chef) We recommend the bruschetta, caprese salad, pizza. The service was great and friendly, really enjoyed this restaurant. Great authentic Italian food. Will definitely be back. Read more
Dundas West gets a funky wine bar with this sweet spot, where sharing is encouraged and the mealtime chumming around is as essential to the experience as the refreshments that accompany it. Daily house-made pasta, family-sized feasts (from a dedicated tasting menu) and a few simply prepared plates of antipasti are the order of the day at this cellar-based Little Italy restaurant, where Nonna's hand in the recipe-making is always close. Online reviewers give top marks for explosively flavourful food prepared with just a few ingredients. A lovely selection of wines is available by the glass, and the 50-seat patio's a treat in the summer.
Sidecar emphasises simple preparation with fresh ingredients and uncomplicated presentations. A small menu helps to ensure freshness and expedite service, elevating the overall dining experience while maintaining a focus on value. Sidecar succeeds in combining a high level of food and service not normally available at these price levels.
This was a sigularly phenomenal experience. All of our food was lick-your-plate excellent. I love their investment in local food producers. Their housemade breads, butters, pastas totally show it. We also were treated to a random complimentary amuse-bouche of a pork terrine with caramelized onions on crostini. Vanilla creme brulee was the single best creme brulee I've ever had--PERFECTLY burnt sugar. Truly amazing prices for food this good. ONLY down thought? Cocktails are expensive and taste like actual booze. Given that I'm normally a fruity liqour drinker, they were hard drinks to swallow! A connaisseur might feel differently. The Chef's Table is not to be missed at this charming Parkdale wine bar and tapas-style eatery. Diners get a chance to mingle with the cooking team, and watch their dinner get made. The atmosphere, courtesy of the room's collection of simple, candlelit tables, is as romantic as it is rustic, with sweet features like a ceiling-level clothesline hung with Parkdale-themed T-shirts. The wine list is extensive, and an extraordinary cocktail program rounds out the beverage offerings sweetly. Service is attentive and never cloying. Local's lighting (hand-crafted chandeliers adorn the place) and decor (chalkboard menus, vintage photos of Toronto behind the bar) are very chill, producing almost a lounge-y vibe (without bleating dance music in the background).
CiCi's has been a part of the Parkdale Village Community since the early nineties and remains a family-operated business. We love our customers and sometimes see them as our extended family. We love making fresh pizza with dough and sauce that we make fresh in-house everyday. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our business.
