The Village of Tompkins is located on the #1 Trans Canada Highway, just 87km from Cypress Hills Regional Park and South of the Great Sand Hills. Tompkins was named for a C.P.R. contractor from Brockville, Ontario and was incorporated as a Village in 1910.Tompkins had their electrical lighting system and rural telephone system connected in 1916, but it wasn't until 1964 that we enjoyed the conveniences of the water and sewage system.
