Our organization was founded in 1989 by dedicated animal lovers who recognized the dangers to cats living on city streets, in alleys and industrial areas. There was no group helping the feral (wild) offspring of lost and abandoned cats. Cats that were wild, or tame but frightened, were quickly killed when taken to city animal control pounds throughout the Vancouver region that were then operated by another organization. Volunteers took on the task and expense of trapping cats, spaying and neutering them, and providing veterinary care. Tame cats were fostered, and wild cats released where feeding stations were set up so that fresh food and water could be provided daily.

With two showrooms, 2 warehouses and the convenient central location, less than a year in operation, the company served over 500 customers. As an adult, bicycles have continued to provide me with much enjoyment and freedom. I ride to see what's down an unknown street, to hear the cacophony of frogs in March, and to smell the food being prepared in different neighborhoods, all while picking up some vegetables for dinner. When the season is right, I'll stop to pick berries or mushrooms. I slow down to browse random yard sales. I ride faster just because it's fun. In many ways, I ride for the same reasons as when I was a kid. I'm riding for the experience of riding, for nothing and everything at once.
