Benjamin Simon began teaching the guitar at the young age of 13, where the majority of his students were actually older than he was. Both of his parents were teachers, and he was clearly destined to be an educator (even winning the “Education Award [O.E.C.T.A] and the Suzanne Grodin Music Award” at Holy Trinity Catholic High School). Throughout his high school years, Ben taught as a way to save up for his university education, eventually going on to get a degree from Trent University.
Young Voices Toronto (YVT, formerly High Park Choirs of Toronto) is a not-for-profit children's choir for youth ages 4-18 led by Artistic Director, Maria Conkey. For over 30 years, we have instilled the joy of singing and built confidence in children by teaching techniques of healthy singing and rudiments of music. We engage choristers through diverse repertoire, movement and interaction, infusing performance with meaning that connects to their hearts and audiences.
