We are passionate about serving delicious, wholesome food prepared from scratch. Our cafe is located in the heritage cottage next to Mouat's in the heart of Ganges village on beautiful Salt Spring Island. The building itself was built in the 1920s and has a long and diverse history which includes being the site of the first electrical generating station on the island and later as a home for one of the Mouat family's favorite aunts, Margaret. It's even been a smoke house, crystal shop and music school.

George Linger and his family have been in the building supply industry since 1965. After selling their business in Alberta, they moved to Vancouver Island in the mid 1990’s. They purchased The Finishing Store in Victoria in 1996 and in Nanaimo in 1999. They felt that is was a retail store that offered a unique product assortment and presented a good opportunity to expand and grow the business. In 1997, they added milling facilities that helped offer customized products specific to the market on Vancouver Island.
