Salt is a tasting room specializing in artisanal cheese, small-batch cured meats, and a dynamic array of wines, beers and sherries. Guests assemble a Tasting Plate from our chalkboard's selection of 10 cheeses, 10 meats, and 10 condiments. The wine list is dynamic and constantly evolving. Global in nature, one can always expect a sampling of vinous delights from our own backyard, or your favourite wine regions the world-over. The selections change constantly, making it almost impossible to have the same Salt experience twice.
You have to remember when going here that this is a wine tasting room, not a place to have dinner. The wine list is imaginative and approachable. The service on a good night is excellent, on a bad night is so-so, but the staff have always been very helpful with the wine choices, pairings, and flight recommendations. The food is charcuterie, not full meals. Use this place to meet up for a pre-dinner drink, or to end off the night with some wine appreciation. Read more
Recognized as the "jewel in Vancouver's culinary crown," West's outstanding contemporary regional cuisine and seamless service has garnered much critical acclaim, including four consecutive wins as Restaurant of the Year by the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, and a prestigious four star rating by Mobil Travel Guide. Pristine local ingredients are sourced to deliver superbly conceived dishes offering modern interpretations of classics. Exuding energy and action, the kitchen offers two 'chef's tables' that render an up–close culinary theatre experience. The elegant dining room is highlighted by a magnificent, temperature-controlled wall of wine housing West's extensive wine collection, an ever-evolving list of acclaimed Old World producers, rare finds and exciting New World vintners. At the gleaming cherrywood bar, martinis and cocktails are composed of fresh herbs, juices and creative infusions.
I visited West with a friend that had been there a couple of times before. The outside of the restaurant was very unassuming. You would have no idea that there was a fantastic restaurant inside. Parking may be an issue as it's a busy streetfront but they did seem to have valet. We sat at the bar and had cesars until our table was ready--made fresh with muddled tomato right in front of our eyes. The food was all amazing both in appearance and taste. REALLY good. I would definitely eat here again! Read more
Housed in the historic Dominion Grand Hotel (est. 1899) in Gastown, this pub was renovated in 2007 and retains its original tin-stamped ceilings, exposed brick walls, stained glass windows and railings. The rest of this storied room has been given a grand renovation, including a new sound system and jukebox, classic pub furniture and flatscreen TVs. A long-time favourite Vancouver watering hole, the Lamplighter is the city's busiest pub for good reason: friendly service, honest local pub fare and a large selection of craft beer and cocktails.
Welcome to the Ouisi Bistro, Vancouver's original New Orleans restaurant. For over 16 years The Ouisi Bistro has been proudly serving authentic Cajun-Creole cuisine. The restaurant is located in South Granville and is a great pre-theatre or post shopping meeting place. The dishes are rustic and down home comfort food with creative twists. During the season, escape to a cozy hidden patio, where you can enjoy our fabulous brunch or lunch menu.
This is my favourite restaurant. period. I don't get the chance to travel to Vancouver much but we've debated flying in just for dinner at Ouisi. There isn't a thing on the menu you should not order. Great portion sizes, great flavours - I crave them while back home in Ontario. Read more

L'Abattoir is located in the center of Gastown between historic Gaoler's Mews and Blood Alley. The restaurant was built in the 19th century and is the site of Vancouver's first jail. Originally buttressed to the city's main butchery and meat packing district, the name L'Abattoir pays homage to the neighbourhood's colourful past. Set in a refurbished brick and beam building that combines classic French tile work with industrial fixtures, natural wood, and glass and steel finishes, the restaurant offers a bar and lounge setting, elevated dining room and plush, sun soaked atrium. Chef Lee Cooper and Owner / Operator Paul Grunberg are dedicated to highlighting the finer points of eating and drinking in L'Abattoir's informed but informal setting. French influenced West Coast fare is paired with Wine Director Lisa Haley's eclectic wine program and Bar Manager Thor Paulson's innovative cocktail list to offer a truly unique dining experience.

EXP is a video game themed restaurant and bar. The atmosphere and theme are all based on games, as is the food and drink menu. The food and drinks are great, and fair for the price but not cheap. My favorite are the triforce burger and phasewalk cocktail, but nothing I've tried has been bad. The service is also excellent - last time I went we arrived shortly before closing and had a large group but they were able to seat us together and even insisted on giving me a free shot for my birthday when I was on the way out AFTER we had already paid. Overall I highly recommend it, I have not been disappointed yet. Read more
