Guylaine Maroist and Éric Ruel, Productions de la ruelle soon made its mark with the documentary Singing to Drown Out the Sea (Radio-Canada, Bravo). This first film won critical acclaim in Quebec and France, and earned three nominations at the 2004 Gémeaux Awards Gala.
