After A Few Years Here, Rosemary Volunteered As The President Of The Gravenhurst Chamber Of Commerce And Served For 6 Years As A School Trustee And Vice Chairman Of The Trillium Lakelands Board Of Education. The Highlight Of This Time Was Definitely When Rosemary Was Invited To Participate In The Prime Minister'S Task Force On Women In Business And We Drove To Ottawa And Met Prime Minister Jean Chretien. In The Same Year Watts Printing Was Selected As The Best Print Shop In Muskoka And Was Also Highlight As The 145 Largest Printer In Canada By Canadian Printer Magazine. Emerald Ash Borer in GeorginaThe Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a highly invasive insect that attacks, feeds on, and kills all species of healthy ash trees. EAB was first sighted in York Region in 2008, and is now found throughout the Region and much of southern Ontario. Over the next three to five years the Towns Parks & Facilities Division will be removing infested trees. Additional trees of a different species will be planted throughout Georgina, under the Georgina Tree Planting Program, during usual planting seasons in the fall and spring. The Theatre was named after one of the English-speaking world's best known humorists, Stephen Leacock (1869-1944), whose amusing home-spun stories about small-town Ontario endeared him to readers throughout the world. His gravesite is located at St. George's Anglican Church on Hedge Road in Sutton.The campaign to build the Stephen Leacock Theatre was spearheaded by the late Whipper Billy Watson, who was also a life-long resident of Georgina. This beautiful building, located at 130 Gwendolyn Drive in Keswick, houses both the Theatre and Club 55 for seniors.
