IRENE STEPHENSON I’m Irene Stephenson, a music teacher, and more specifically, a piano teacher. I help people take their dream of playing the piano, and in a few short weeks, make it their reality. I work with eager to learn students of all ages, from five to Seventy-five, helping them to experience the satisfaction that comes with learning to play great sounding songs quickly, almost effortlessly, and learn to play piano for the sheer enjoyment of it. It was not always this way. In 2007 I made a decision that drastically changed how I taught people to play the piano. I had been teaching students the reading based approach to learning how to play the piano. This is where a student has to learn to read music first, in order to learn how to play the piano. Peel Adult Learning Centre in Brampton and Mississauga offers literacy and academic upgrading programs to adults. These programs help adults build academic skills needed to succeed in work, training, and school. Our programs are available for adults 19 and older who are no longer in school. Our Employment Ontario LBS Programs are funded by the Ontario Government’s Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities and are tuition free to eligible students. We help students achieve the GED (high school equivalency), qualify for college programs, qualify for apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship programs, enhance workplace essential skills, and prepare for employment and employer tests.
