Founded in 1963, Santo Guizzetti and his three partners began operations with only four trucks. But what they lacked in machinery, they made up for with ambition, hard work, and dedication. Putting customer service and financial responsibility ahead of rapid growth, York Excavating and Grading gradually overtook the competition and established themselves as first in their industry throughout all of Southern Ontario and the GTA.At the time of its foundation, the vast majority of excavation work was conducted with unskilled labour using rudimentary tools. As it appeared that construction would become increasingly mechanized over time, York made significant investments in both the skilled labour and the sophisticated equipment they would need to compete in a flooded marketplace.
