A Word About LanguagePeople First is an organization that was formed because some of the people in our communities felt that they were not considered as people first. They felt that they were talked about, talked to, thought about, and treated according to the disabilities that others labelled them with. The founders of People First did not think this was fair. Over the years people have been called mentally handicapped, developmentally disabled, cognitively challenged, intellectually disabled, and many other labels. In order to avoid hurting peoples' feelings and to avoid using labels when we talk about the many different members of People First, we will use the term people who have been labelled.

This software is available free to download from Adobe's Web site .Macdonald Youth Services (Head Office) as viewed from the North side of the Assiniboine River - August, 1996 Winnipeg, MB CanadaIn 1929, a group of concerned citizens founded the Sir Hugh John Macdonald Memorial Hostel to respond to needs of the community at that time. It was named in honour of Sir Hugh John Macdonald, a police magistrate. Throughout his career, Hugh John preached courtesy, compassion, firmness and impartiality. He also practiced those traits. Sir Hugh John Macdonald felt that some offenders had been pushed into their petty crimes due to the harsh social and economic times. He would often suspend sentences and then work to find jobs for the youth. Many times, Hugh John would provide temporary shelter for the young men in his own home. Thus, he not only advocated for disadvantaged youth, but he also set an example by providing shelter and guidance to those in need. The hostel was originally based out of a rented home on Mountain Avenue, but incorporated as a charity two years later and purchased its first home at 175 Mayfair Avenue

In July 1993 I was appointed to be a Province of Manitoba Marriage Commissioner. Since that time I have officiated at more than 1,600 weddings. Becoming a marriage commissioner was a perfect fit for me. In January 2014, I became a certified funeral celebrant would be another perfect fit for me.
I retired from my government career with Manitoba Health in January 2015. This has given me more time to focus on my true calling — performing wedding ceremonies and officiating at funerals and celebrations of life.
I am caring, friendly, open and a great listener. My friends and colleagues have praised my warm sense of humour, calm demeanour, thoughtfulness, and patience. And I really love what I do.
I hope to share with you my experience, compassion and professionalism as a Marriage Commissioner or Funeral Celebrant.

A no hesitations recommendation. I have had service from other body shops and decided to try Don Vito for a change. My job required lots of detail and was a big job. Don Vito did the job on time as promised, made sure the interior of my car was protected. Vito and other staff were courteous and professional and kept me informed from the time my MPI claim was filed to handing my keys over when the job was done. Jim WRead more
